Analogy with DFBA most exposed FlexHose [Ref: Laurent Tavian slides July 21, 2009]. Worst feasible case for US: Flexhose with 90 deg bend LD1 (ID=57.2 mm) If 300 K & 1.5 bar & Mdot =10 g/s Velocity >> 16 m/s. The case causing the leak: CL line (DN15) 300 K Mdot > 50 g/s

Preliminary conclusions Case Investigated: -- cool-down realized in 2008 • Helium flow was always small enough to prevent the gas velocity to exceed 25 m/s in the LD1 circuit (QRL to Inner Triplet). • Line chosen by analogy with the DFBA issue. • Largest flow observed = 5 g/s at 300 K v ~ 8 m/s • We would need at least 15 g/s to reach 25 m/s at 300 K and 1.5 bar Limited risk • Most investigation wrt other flexhose and cool-down/warm-up conditions.
