Words you need to know… • White Blood Cell (WBC) – protect body from foreign objects • Red Blood Cell (RBC) – delivers oxygen to body tissues
Words you need to know… • Lymphocyte - type of white blood cell stored in lymph nodes • 2 kinds: • T cell: direct and regulate immune responses, whereas others directly attack infected or cancerous cells • B cell: recognize foreign antigens & produce antibodies
Words you need to know… • Platelet – helps form blood clots • Plasma – mode of transportation
Words you need to know… • Lymph - tissue fluids from the blood that have collected and entered the lymph vessels

Day in the Life of White Blood Cells (Mr. WBC) Mr. WBC was verb around in the blood hanging out with his noun – oxygen carrying Mr. RBC, Patty the Platelet, and Pete the Plasma. Mr. RBC Mr. WBC Pete Patty
Suddenly, a noun is heard through the bloodstream saying, “Blasted germ has breached our outer shield in left big noun!” Mr. WBC and all his friends rush to the crime scene to help verb the invader.
Once they reach the noun, they can feel the blistering heat. Mr. WBC called on his sidekick, T-Pain the T-cell, to help with the noun. T-Pain
T-Pain loves some juicy noun for breakfast. He surrounds the invader and eats most of it. Then T-Pain calls on his posse, B-Mac the B-Cell. T-Pain
B-Mac is the master of noun. He makes these explosives called antibodiesthat completely destroy the invader. B-Mac Antibodies
Patty the Platelet goes in to help stop Mr. RBC, Mr. WBC, and everyone else from verb the crime scene. Patty helps fortify the broken shield. Patty
Pete the Plasmaverb(s)traffic and helps restore order. Patty Mr. RBC Mr. WBC Pete
Now that the noun is underway… Mr. WBCand his friends can go back to hanging out in the blood.
