  3. Jack • Antagonist, one of the older boys, becomes leader of the hunters • Becomes wild and barbaric • Opposed civilized instincts

  4. Simon • Shy, sensitive boy in the group • Only one who is naturally “good” and has morals • Represents natural goodness

  5. Piggy • Ralph’s “lieutenant, a whiny, intellectual boy • Makes a sundial to tell time • Represents the scientific nature of humans

  6. Roger • Jack’s “lieutenant”, sadistic, cruel boy • Eventually murders Piggy by rolling a boulder on him • Represents the uncivilized side of humans
