IT Audit • Is an examination and evaluation of the municipality’s IT infrastructure, policies and operations • It determine whether IT controls • Protect municipal assets to ensure data integrity • Are aligned with the municipality’s goals and objectives

ITGC 1. User Access Control Computer systems are protected from unauthorised user access 2. Change Management Control Changes to hardware, software and data are authorised 3. Physical Access Control Information and IT equipment are protected from unauthorized physical access 4. Environmental Control Information and IT equipment are protected from environmental hazards, e.g. fire, smoke 5. Business Continuity Plan To enable a municipality to continue operations in the event of a disruption 6. Disaster Recovery Plan The impact of a disruption on hardware, software and data is minimised
Why are ITGC important? IT systems support many of the municipality’s business processes, such as these below: • Budget • Assets • Revenue • Procurement • Inventory • Payroll We cannot rely on IT systems or data therein without effective IT General Controls
