What is the difference between Year 11 EAL & Year 12? • In EAL, Unit 4 has only two Outcomes (not three like Units 1-3) • Students have SACs instead of assessment tasks • SACs are given a numerical score instead of a letter grade
The differences continue… • Assessment results (SAC results) are reported to VCAA • SAC results contribute to your study score which goes towards your ATAR • The exam at the end of the year is more important

Unit 3 – SACs for Unit 3 contribute 25% to the study score. • Outcome 1 – A written response to a selected text (Mabo) (35 marks) • Outcome 2 – Three pieces of drafted writing created for specific forms, purposes and audiences on the Context of Exploring Issues of Identity and Belonging (30 marks) • Outcome 3 – An oral presentation giving your point of view on a selected issue that demonstrates the persuasive use of language (35 marks) TOTAL = 100 marks
Unit 4 – SACs for Unit 4 contribute 25% to the study score. • Outcome 1 – A written interpretation of a selected text (Twelve Angry Men) (50 marks) • Outcome 2 - Three pieces of drafted writing created for specific forms, purposes and audiences on the Context of identity and belonging (50 marks) TOTAL = 100 marks
The end of year exam is worth 50% of your overall assessment.
