Where We Left Off • Intentions of finding a suitable motor for initial design • Finalizing the design of the prototype • Determining and gathering the materials needed for the prototype
Progress • Agreed on a preliminary design to carry out the project with • Identified the materials we needed and started to acquire them (motor, hockey net) • Implemented a new website • Revised and updated schedule, more precise and pinpointed
Marketing Research • Who • Kids 8-14 • Parents of younger children • What • Do they like the idea • Would they (or their child) use our product • Would they change anything about our product • Any additional comments
When • Over the break • During the school presentations talk to younger grades • Where • Where we will spend our break (hometowns, vacations, family etc.) • Sherbrook • Why • Are we missing anything
Design • Concept and exterior appearance remains unchanged. • Progress with motor. We have a 6v with high rpm. 1 or 2 motor designs under consideration. • Black vinyl plastic mesh used for funnel-like design. • Double tarp system to be tested for front of net
Contacts • Dr. Comeau (P.Eng): Electronics of the motor system, configuration and possibilities. Testing is scheduled for this week. • GraigSeaboyer (Electronics Technologist): 6V Motor, provided information and insight. • Randy Jones (NHL Player for Winnipeg): Hopeful contact in order to get professional opinion and advice
Schedule: Phase One Phase one of design project: we completed all tasks we set out to complete by the time we designated to have each task completed ON SCHEDULE
Schedule: Phase Two We now enter phase two of the design project which will take us from the first progress report presentation (February 13th) until the second progress report (March 16th).
Schedule: Phase Two • Focus primarily on the construction and testing of a prototype • gathering all missing materials and putting everything together • Once we have the prototype built • can start testing the performance and making alterations to the design or components
Detailed Schedule: Phase Two • March 12 • Present Progress Report #2 • March 13 • Weekly meeting (10:05AM) • March 13 – 15 • Assemble written Progress Report #2 • March 16 • Submit written Progress Report #2 • This schedule does not include some tasks we carry out continuously from the beginning of the project to the end. Such tasks include website maintenance, daily communication via e-mail and Facebook, and additional weekly meeting on Fridays (depending on the week). • February 14 – 16 • Assemble written Progress Report #1 and assign tasks and goals to have completed by the end of spring break • February 17 • Hand in written Progress Report #1 • February 18 – 26 • Spring Break – utilize time at home to find needed tools and materials previously identified and bring them back to Antigonish to begin construction • February 27 – March 4 • Construct prototype • February 28 • Weekly meeting (10:05AM) • March 5 – 11 • Test performance of prototype, refine design, make alterations, and evaluate components • March 6 • Weekly meeting (10:05AM) • March 9 – 11 • Assemble presentation for Progress Report #2
