EISD Tip Line - 444-4911 • Safeline ..........Protecting Edgewood students, staff, and schools • can be used by anyone, including students, parents, staff, and members of the community who have any safety concerns. • can be called any time, day or night. The Edgewood Police Department monitors and manages the system. • is designed to be completely anonymous. However, callers are welcomed to leave their names and telephone numbers. • Citizens, parents, staff, and students should call anytime they have information about an illegal activity, a potential threat, or any type of safety issue. Examples could include information about: • A gun in school • Drugs in school • A fight involving students • A suspicious person at a school • A theft or burglary at a campus • Any threat to student or staff safety

Dress and Grooming • School Districts have jurisdiction regarding dress and grooming standards • Dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize safety hazards • District policy prohibits any clothing or grooming that in an administrator’s judgment, may reasonably cause disruption of or interference with normal operations at school

Dress and Grooming • District prohibits pictures, emblems, or writing on clothing: • lewd, offensive, vulgar, obscene, satanic, or that imply a double meaning message • advertise or depict tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs or any other prohibited substance • associated with gangs or secret societies

Dress and Grooming • Student’s general appearance must be such as not to interfere with the instructional program • clothing must not be suggestive • no see-through clothing, or strapless or backless garments • students must wear proper undergarments • blouses that show the mid-section will not be worn • torn clothing will not be worn

Dress and Grooming • shorts and skirts shall not be more than 4 inches above the knee • Sleeveless apparel must provide appropriate coverage (no tank tops, muscle shirts, or basketball type shirts) • bandanas will not be worn, carried or used in any manner • hats or head apparel are not permitted • Jewelry or studs, including earrings or chains, may not be worn in any part of body except the ear lobes

Dress and Grooming • tattoos must be covered • oversized sagging or baggy pants are prohibited • no dangling chains or belts will be allowed • matching or similar clothes, which identify a gang or group not approved by the school, will not be allowed • conspicuous or non-traditional styles or colors of hair are prohibited

  19. Dress and Grooming • If a student violates the dress code, by either grooming or clothing, he/she will be sent home, given opportunity to correct at school,or placed in ISS for remainder of day until corrected. • Repeated dress code offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action.

Texas Education Code • Section §25.092 of the Texas Education Code contains the provision of law commonly referred to as the “90 percent rule.” • A student will earn credit for a class based on a student’s attendance for at least 90 percent of the days a class is offered • 2013-2014 Academic Calendar Days • Fall Term – August 26-Jan 17 = 89 • Spring Term – Jan 21-June 6 = 91

  30. PSAT • The PSAT is an assessment that measures critical reading, math, and writing skills developed over many years. • It is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2013. • Who takes the PSAT? 10th and 11th graders

Please see Ms. Reece (Rm 212) for a calendar, look on the website, or the Senior board. • Homecoming dance- Sept 27th • Senior Trip- Possibly over Spring Break… • Prom- May 17th • Senior Activities- Last week of school- you will be eligible to partake in senior activities if you are in good standing (attendance, grades, meeting graduation requirements)
