Each student will need to keep their Cornell notes to turn in to me on presentation day. Your presentation and discussion (we will discuss this on Wednesday) will be 20-25 minutes long.

Group Assignments • GROUP 1 – [READING] Prologue / Parados, pgs. 1068 – 1073 • [RESEARCH] Prepare and present to the class the story of Oedipus Rex • Group 2 – [READING] Scene 1 / Ode 1, pgs. 1074 – 1079 • [RESEARCH] Research the ancient city-state of Thebes (Greece) and its political structure of • government. • Group 3 – [READING] Scene 2 / Ode 2, pgs. 1080 – 1087 • [RESEARCH] Research the writer of Sophocles, paying special attention to his purpose for writing. • Group 4 – [READING] Scene 3 / Ode 3, pgs. 1088 – 1093 • [RESEARCH] Research the theater of ancient Greece, details about the performers and the performances, as well as the characters that were typical of Greek theater. • Group 5 – [READING] Scene 4 / Ode 4, pgs. 1094 – 1097 • [RESEARCH] Research the allusions of this section of the play. • Group 6 – [READING] Paean / Exodus, pgs. 1102 – 1106 • [RESEARCH] Research the religious context of the plays, as were presented during Sophocles’ time.
