AfL What do you want to have achieved by the end of this half term? Take into account the SPIRT and FITTR principles, applying them to a personal exercise progamme.. Write a personal target in your planner!
FITT – Starter – Tennis? • With a partner • You say the word, they define it • They say the next word, you define it!
FITT and SPIRT • Find a new partner • Write down a little bit about them relating to their individual needs and the specificity of their sport
FITT • With the same person… • Chose their sport, taking into account their ability and their age • Change the components of FITT for a 6 week programme, ONLY weeks 1 and 6 • Show progression from week 1 to week 6
Practical - Intensity • Your job is to get your ‘client’ to work at a harder intensity • You have 5 minutes • You have to be able to explain the difference in between the two intensities!
R • What does the R in FITTR stand for? • Listen to the person next to you, they have 30 seconds to define it • You then have 30 seconds to give an example
If you got all 5 right.. Create a six week training programme showing the difference inFITTduring each of the 6 weeks for a selected sports performer • If you got 3 or 4 right.. Go over them using the ‘tennis’ game where one person says the name, the next person the definition, adding on examples • If you got less than 2 right.. Use the tennis game to remember the definition for each component, create a way for YOU to remember them!
Extension Task • What is reversibility? Give an example of how this can affect a sportsperson. • When training for a sport, explain how one element of the FITT principle can help an athlete improve their performance.
Extension Task 2 • Design five questions with answers about FITTR. In pairs, take it in turns to test each other’s knowledge. • Swap your questions with someone else and ask your partner the new questions.
