TA 9 Visits Buckingham House
Barbara explains different items that were used at Buckingham House, which was once a dairy farm.
In our groups... We are ready to relive the past.
Our first job is to start churning the cream to make the butter. Now it will be ready in time For our morning tea!!!
Katie and Maree helped us with sewing our hessian mat.
What a great job we are all doing! Well Done Maisy! Morgan and Jacob are concentrating extremely hard.
Time to cook morning tea. It was time to learn how kitchens were in the old days. NO microwaves (wooden stoves) NO fridges....but worst NO dishwasher!!!!!
Amelia, Tyson and Rachael do the washing on a wash board. Then you rinse it in ‘the purple water’ Jacob’s mastered using the wringer. While Amber and Dylan hang it Out.
With the washing done It’s time to hang it out And then time to iron it!
Guess what we’re making...... Toilet Paper!!! That’s right!
Yippee!!! After all the hard work it’s morning tea time!! Warm damper with freshly churned butter and jam. Oh no....that’s right no dish washer! We had to wash and dry our own dishers. (I thought a tea towel was to get the nuggets out of the oven!!!)
More fun with Hoops and Stilts.
Special Thanks toMs King, Mrs Hepburn and our Wonderful helpers- Cassie, MrsVerrier, Mrs Bongoirnoand Mrs Press. Thanks to our wonderful parents for the effort that was put in to make the children look the part.
