  1. How to Install Flange Mount Bearing?

  2. Flange mount bearing avails you the support for a shaft that runs perpendicular to the bearing'smountingsurface. It is one of the most economical ways to handle a given level of speed and load capacity. Installing the Flange Bearing can be tricky because of the thin aluminum outer shell but not too much.

  3. There are 2 basic procedures that can be followed to install the Flange mount bearing. Each method come with a challenge and one must be considered and be careful at the same time. Find the right process that suits best with your conditions and capabilities and you will finally get the the best result out of it.

  4. Machine the housing for a slip fit, apply adhesive and slip the bearing into the housing. Make sure to allow ample amount of time for the adhesive to cure as specified by the adhesive manufacturer.

  5. Caution: Do not allow any of the adhesive to touch the bearing liner, otherwise it will harden and interfere with the proper running clearance for the bearing.

  6. As specified in the PBC Linear catalog, machine the housing bore to the recommended press fit tolerance. Freeze the bearings at 0°F (-17.75°C) for 30-45 minutes. Now, using gloves, remove the bearings from the freezer and slip them into the housing. As they quickly heat to room temperature, full contact between the bearing and the housing will be achieved.

  7. The greatest advantage to this technique over traditional pressing is greater accuracy in alignment. Caution: PBC Linear does NOT recommend a press fit due to misaligment and shearing of material either manually with hammer or mallet or with the aid of an arbor press.

  8. Mounting Instructions: PBC Linear wheels use concentric and eccentric bushings to provide stable and adjustable mounting configurations. Fixed wheel assemblies provide primary engagement to the rail and bushings mount on the centerline of the bearing.

  9. Adjustable wheel assemblies are mounted with eccentric bushings to allow adjustability and preloading.V-Guide systems use a pair of fixed guide wheels in combination with a variable number of adjustable guide wheels to ensure both stability and adjustability.

  10. The location of fixed or adjustable wheel assemblies is dependent on the location of the rails and direction of loads. While rails are external, fixed wheel assemblies will be mounted on the bottom but when rails are internal, fixed wheel assemblies will be mounted on top. The location of the adjustable or eccentric wheel assembly will always be dependent on the rail's location be it inside or outside of the wheel carriage.

  11. Flange mount bearingas a device is unmatched in the industry as they are available in any of the locking devices as screw locking system, eccentric locking collars, concentric clamp locking system and our patented tight grip adapter mounted bearing. To stabilize and support the shaft, flange-mount bearing is mounted in one of three flange forms which is Four-bolt, Three-bolt and Two-bolt flange-mount bearing.
