What is Marijuana? • Marijuana is produced from the dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. The active ingredient is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a fat-soluble drug, which produces marijuana's psychoactive effects . Click on Pic for you tube About 12’ tall

How is it used? • Mostly smoked, but it can be eaten. • 5-10 times more THC enters the blood when it is smoked.
Is it safe? • NO • The marijuana that is sold today is more potent than the marijuana that your Aunt Bette may have used in college. • It has more carcinogens and more tar than cigarettes. Some sources say that 3-5 joints = 20 cigarettes when comparing its damaging effects.
Just because you don’t die, doesn’t make it safe. You can die from the poor choices you make while high. You have a greater chance for:car accidents, falls, pregnancy, stds, AIDS And more….
Marijuana and the brain Marijuana over activates parts of the brain causing the feeling of intoxication. The user may experience: distorted perceptions impaired coordination difficulty with thinking and problem solving disrupted learning and memory
How does it hurt the body? Physical harm: • Lungs: bronchitis, emphysema • Brain: disrupts learning, reduces memory • Heart: increase heart rate and blood pressure • Immune system: decrease white blood cells, less likely to fight germs • Reproductive system: decreases sperm and may damage eggs, upsets menstrual cycles
Marijuana may be a gateway drug • What does that mean? • It presents an opportunity to get involved with other illegal drugs.
Is it addictive? • Yes, both physically and psychologically. • Withdrawal symptoms include: irritability, sleep disorders, anxiety, agitation and nausea
What is dabbing? Dabbing is inhaling the potent vapors from concentrated marijuana oil which is up to 80% THC, the psychoactive element in marijuana. Click on picture for news cast

NY State Medical Marijuana • The conditions covered under the law include cancer, HIV/AIDS, ALS, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, certain spinal cord injuries, irritable bowel syndrome, epilepsy, neuropathy, and Huntington’s disease, severe pain, nausea and muscle spasms. • Marijuana oils must be vaporized, swallowed in a capsule or absorbed in the mouth, not smoked or eaten. Legal Risks • Marijuana is illegal in all 50 state (Federal Law) • If caught with any pot all federal school loans are cancelled • If caught with less that 25 grams= violation, fine and possibly community service • If caught with over 25 grams= misdemeanor or felony, big fine • If caught selling/buying in a drug free school zone = no plea bargains allowed
