Common Agricultural Policy The EU pursues 3 objectives through CAP: • securing viable food production • ensuring sustainable management of natural resources and climate action • contributing to a balances terriorial development.
CAP post 2020 specific objectives • Support viable farm income and resilience across the EU territory to enhance food security; • enhance market orientation and increase competitiveness including greater focus on research, technology and digitalisation ; • Improve farmers' position in the value chain; • Contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as sustainable energy; • Foster sustainable development and efficient management of natural resources such as water, soil and air;
CAP post 2020 specific objectives • Contribute to the protection of biodiversity, enhance ecosystem services and preserve habitats and landscapes; • Attract young farmers and facilitate business development in rural areas; • Promote employment, growth, social inclusion and local development in rural areas, including bio-economy and sustainable forestry; • Improve the response of EU agriculture to societal demands on food and health, including safe, nutritious and sustainable food, as well as animal welfare.
Topics 1.1. Cross-cutting: the need to promote and improve e-agriculture. 1.2. The need to develop women entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector, as well as development of niche markets and organic farming. 1.3. The need to develop and promote an effective regulatory system for agricultural cooperatives. 1.4. The need to advocate for policies which ensure fair competition in the agricultural market.
Agriculture versus e-agriculture Farmers need new knowledge and innovation to face future challenges. EIP – the agricultural European Innovation Partnership has been launched in 2012: • to contribute to the EU strategy Europe 2020 • smart, sustainable, inclusive growth, • to share information about project, research needed, etc. • to search and find opportunities, partners, interesting projects, • focus on practical inovative solution to problems, • deepen knowledge on innovation related agricultural topics • conect to people.
Agriculture versus e-agriculture Programme for Research and Innovation Five priorities for research and innovation: 1. Resource management – soil, water, biodiversity 2. Healthier plants and animals 3. Integrated ecological approaches from farm to landscape level 4. New openings for rural growth 5. Enhancing the human and social capital in rural areas.
Women in Agriculture Advisory Group on Woman in Rural Areas – until 2014. From July 2014 AG replaced with the new civil dialogue groups (13): Animal production, Arable crops, CAP, Direct payments and greening,Enviroment and climate change, Forestry and cork, Horticulture, olives and spirits, International aspects of agriculture, Milk, Organic farming, Quality and promotion, Rural development and Wine.
