Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP)

MAP is a program that places MBA students in companies to work on real business challenges, providing actionable recommendations and innovative thinking. Sponsor benefits include access to high-performing teams and data-driven solutions. Projects have been conducted in over 70 countries. Sponsor requirements include appointing a project liaison and providing resources. Deadline for project proposal submission is November 22, 2013.

  4. What is MAP? • Our largest educational partnership program with companies and organizations around the world • An action-based learning course placing MBA students in a company environment where they integrate business disciplines, turning theory and analysis into valuable action

What is MAP? • Teams of 4-6 first-year MBA students • Two Ross faculty members advise each team • All types of organizations involved: major corporations, entrepreneurial companies and nonprofit organizations • Project duration of seven weeks • Full-time devotion to project: students take no other courses during this time Blarney Castle & Gardens in Cork, Ireland 2012

Cost to Sponsor • No administration fee • No student salary – This is NOT an internship (Course credit is earned through this educational partnership) • Sponsor pays all project-related student expenses • Travel: airfare, hotel, meals, ground transportation • International travel expenses: visa, immunization charges, travel health insurance • Calling cards, disposable cell phones, printing costs • Any other expenses pre-approved by sponsor

Sponsor Requirements • Prior to Project Proposal Approval and Selection • Fill out on-line Project Proposal form atwww.bus.umich.edu/MAPprior to November 22,2013 • Appoint a Project Liaison & Alternate Liaison Once Your Project is Staffed with a Team of MBA Students • Allow Access to Information & Personnel • Provide Resources: work area, phone/fax, and copy equipment • Communicate travel itinerary to MAP team • Pay Student Project-Related Expenses

  17. MAP 2014 Application Dates • Project Proposal Submission Begins September 9, 2013 • Deadline for Submission of Project Proposals November 22, 2013

Key Dates for MAP 2014 November 22, 2013 • Project Proposal Submission Deadline January 2014 • Students select projects After March 12, 2014 • Students typically start traveling to sponsor’s site for project orientation • Students remain onsite typically from 2 - 4 weeks Late April/Early May 2014 • Final presentations to MAP sponsor’s management team Week of March 10, 2014 • MAP Kick-off Events (students only)
