  3. Guidelines to effective research • Be systematic in your approach • Use the Library catalogue and electronic resources • Keep records of the correct citation of articles and cases you consulted • Start your bibliography early • Make an appointment with a Reference Librarian

  4. Organising a bibliography Record citations correctly at the time you are using them • reported/unreported case citations • authorised/unauthorised law reports Have a system for recording citations • Card catalogue • Create a Microsoft Word or Excel table or Access database • Use Endnote

  14. Searching the Web • Search the Web from the Library Web site: • Google or Google Scholar is recommended Use Advanced search • Useful for checking references & for finding recent reports and conference papers • Remember to evaluate everything you find on the Internet

  15. Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loans • Not all books and articles are available from the UWA library • Register as a user by filling out the Registration Form and drop it in to the Library Inquiry Desk • Lodge your requests online
