  24. WAC 181-77-070 CTE Director Revision Fall 2013: Proposed language shared and distributed to WAVA area groups for feedback. January 2014: Feedback reviewed and incorporated by CTE Director workgroup. Changes take effect September 2014. Creates an Initial/Continuing certificate and renewal requirements in alignment with other roles. Mandates CTE administration coursework to be eligible.

  25. WAC 181-77-070 CTE Director Initial consideration by PESB at their March meeting. No action taken. Preliminary review. Proposed amendment to be presented at May meeting. Action taken. Will repeal 181-77-070 and replace with 181-77-071. Current cert holders eligible for Continuing CTE Director cert upon expiration of current cert.

  26. CTE Counselor/OIS Workgroup Formed November 2013 Developing clarification of roles and duties Update/align certificates with other roles Initial/Continuing rather than 1, 3, 5 year certs. Drafts will be vetted statewide

  27. Other Certification Topics Non-CTE Certification Renewal requirements are changing starting September 2014. Continuing education or professional growth plans (PGPs) for teachers at the elementary and secondary levels in STEM-related subjects must include a specific focus on the integration of STEM instruction as per RCW 28A.410.2212. Affects all elementary teachers and secondary STEM-related teachers

  29. Certification Renewal Options Educators who complete 4 PGPs/5 years have completed certificate renewal requirements. Each completed PGP = 30 clock hours. Four PGPs = 120 clock hours. Additional hours needed for salary advancement If an educator chooses to “mix & match” PGPs and clock hours, the total number of combined clock hour equivalent must = 150 clock hours.  For example: 3 PGPs + 60 CH = 150
