SNAP (formerly Food Stamps) • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly Food Stamps) • The largest anti-hunger program in the U.S. • One of the most effective programs at lifting people out of poverty • Reauthorized under the 2014 Farm Bill • Nearly 48 million participants • 70% are families with children • Over 25% are households with seniors or people with disabilities • 31% of participants are in working households

Child Nutrition Reauthorization • Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act is set to expire on September 30 • Six key programs • School Breakfast Program • National School Lunch Program • Child and Adult Care Food Program • Summer Food Service Program • Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) • We want to protect and strengthen these programs without making cuts to other crucial safety-net programs including SNAP
