Nature of Gunsmithing • Being a gunsmith one builds, modifys, and repair firearms. • The primary responsibility of a gunsmith is to make sure the weapon is in perfect working order. • Most own their own business and work out of them. • Other gunsmiths work in factories and armories. • The easiest way to attain the skills needed for this field is through the military.

  4. Education and Training • The best education to get for gunsmithing is through the military. • The military will give you the most knowledge of weaponry in the world. • Other ways to educate yourself in this field are through apprenticeships and community colleges for the field.

  5. Qualifications • In order to be a gunsmith you need to have your FFL which stands for your Federal Firearms License. You need this license in order to operate on the receiver of weapons but all other parts of weapons can be operated on freely.

  6. Job Outlook • The current job outlook for gunsmithing is very good. Although in this field the outlook is not always the most important thing. How well you do in this field greatly depends on the work you do, how well you do it and where your business is located. • The outlook just depends on how well you do various tasks in the field.

  7. Potential Earnings • According to various websites, the amount of money a Gunsmith earns per year can greatly vary. If you own your own business, you can make upwards of $100,000 a year. While on the other hand, if you do not do good work or work for someone you can make as little as $30,000. In the future the earnings should also go up at a steady rate. • Gunsmith locations

Related Occupations • Some related occupations to Gunsmithing are anything involved in the military because they too work extensively with weapons, metal technicians’ work is also similar as they work with the fabrication of metals. And owning a gun store is the most closely related because they also sell weapons, which is the sole purpose of being a gunsmith.
