The french riviera… let's continue the journey! part two.
WHAT TO PACK Embroidered, beaded or lace kaftans and cover-ups are a must for French Riviera style as they can be worn from the beach to the bar like this Missoni cover-up seen here A different swimsuit for everyday, whether it is a chic one piece bathing suit like this one here or a boho bikini; pair it back with fabulous sunglasses, oversized jewelry and a Panama hat I always take sweater, jacket and scarf layering options to the French Riviera, not only to complete outfits but also to enjoy the cool summer evenings – there are so many picturesque outdoor dining options, or even just for an evening stroll… Party dresses with some bling for fun summer nights to attend many of the sophisticated events and to dance the night away, or to simply enjoy the South of France lifestyle Oversized, stylish tote bags for leisurely days at the beach club Sunscreen always… currently I am loving this CC cream here WHAT TO DO When in Cannes – take a boat to La Guerite for lunch or sunset cocktails, situated on the tiny island Ile Sainte Marguerite with great seafood, incredible views, beautiful decor and a little romance… Visit the vineyards of Provence, or many Michelin-starred restaurants in the area – I particularly like the quaint town of Salernes with its rustic and charming vibe and of course tasting rosé wine along the way Experience the Cannes Film festival in May – make sure you plan this visit well in advance as it is very busy, but so much fun and great people watching – including celebrities! In St Tropez – explore the designer boutiques lining the cobblestone streets all around the port Also when in St Tropez – get involved in one of the petanque games in the village square whilst also enjoying some rosé and local politics WHERE TO HANG Enjoy hot summer days at your favorite beach club… In Cannes I love Baoli Beach and in St Tropez, Les Palmiers If you are lucky enough to stay or even just hang on a yacht in any of the French Riviera ports then this is an obvious choice, for fun pre-game cocktails before dinner or dancing the night away on one of the decks Les Caves du Roy in St Tropez is an iconic nightclub to visit, or for just a fun night out dancing on a rotating dance floor go to VIP Room Senequier is a must do at the Port of Saint Tropez – any time of day or night – it is a quintessentially French hot spot that attracts all walks of life, and has great food as well! White 1921 hotel bar in St Tropez is great for a cocktail after sunset in a modern and cool setting WHERE TO EAT In Cannes I love to eat at Le Pastis for casual dining with great local produce in an authentic setting Le Palme d’Or in Cannes is magical for a more high end experience and great people watching, especially during the Cannes film festival Reserve a table for lunch at the famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc grill in Cap d’Antibes for a long, leisurely lunch with a spectacular views and fun ‘pre and post-yacht’ scene Relax on the verandah at Le Bacon in Cap d’Antibes for an beautiful seafood lunch accompanied with amazing views Tetou, just outside of Cannes, for the most amazing local bouillabaisse, and a fun ‘sunset scene’, this restaurant is great for groups as well Chez Madeleine in St Tropez for fresh oysters, prawns, or whatever is in season – sit on the quiet street and pair it with a glass of local wine My absolute favorite lunch spot on the French Riviera is Club 55 in Saint Tropez – you must order the crudités to start as it is out of this world! WHERE TO STAY A popular choice in Cannes is Hotel Martinez however I also really like Five Seas Hotel which is a little more understated, in a great location during Cannes Film Festival, and also has a really fun rooftop pool Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes has an amazing pool, many exclusive events and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea In St Tropez, Villa Marie is classically French and a great place to experience some charming French country style seen here La Reserve Ramatuelle is pure luxury that you may never want to leave When in the French Riviera, on a yacht of course!
