  2. About the workshop • Aim: • To find out more about the types of jobs available at Kent, one of the South East’s biggest employers, and speak to SECL alumni who now work here • Timings: • 2:15-3pm Presentations from guest speakers • 3-4pm Informal networking and chatting in the Foyer

  8. Why I chose to work at Kent • Didn’t know what to do for a living • Enjoyment of part time jobs and activities • Variety of roles on offer • Friendly environment • Good conditions and salary • Career progression • Interesting, varied jobs

  9. My current role – an overview • ½ Employability, ½ Marketing and Recruitment • Employability: “The ability to gain meaningful employment” • Organising events • Updating the website • Liaising with alumni & local businesses • Running an Academic Peer Mentoring scheme

  10. My current role – an overview • Marketing and Recruitment: • Running Visit Days • Appointing recruitment student ambassadors • Writing prospectus and web entries • Facebook and Twitter @ unikentsecl • Newsletters and emails to applicants • And more!

To summarise… • Experience is key – any experience is better than none • You need to stand out from the crowd • It’s ok if you don’t know what to do! • Lots of opportunities available at Kent, almost any career imaginable • Good pay, conditions, facilities, opportunities and great colleagues!
