  2. Introduction The recent years have seen a massive growth in the SUV segment of the automobile industry. Not only has the growth increased in the number of SUVs launched, but the consumers seem to be increasingly enamoured of different designs and features offered by SUV manufacturers in India.

  3. For an average Indian consumer, SUVs fulfilled multiple purposes—you could revel in a long ride on tarmac as well as off roads. In addition, it could very well fit in a family of seven without any protest. In fact, this became the greatest selling point of SUVs, especially for our large Indian families. Considering such a burgeoning SUV wave, we have enlisted top three SUV’s that have successfully enticed the buyers with their unique offerings.

XUV 500 • The XUV 500 is a compact SUV by M&M that was launched in 2011; it was priced in the bracket of Rs. 10.88–15.67 Lakhs. • The SUV comes powered with a 2.2 litre (2179 cc) ‘mHawk’ turbo diesel engine. • The XUV churns out a massive 140 bhp @ 3,750 (PS@rpm), delivering an average of 15kmpl (highway).

  5. ToyotaFortuner • Being one of the most sold SUVs in India, Fortuner comes with 2982 cc engine, which belts out a power of 343 Nm @ 1400–3400 rpm. • Fortuner gives an average 12.6kmpl in city conditions and 14.8 kmpl on highways and free roads. • Fortuner starts at a price of 22.16 L.

FordEndeavour • Ford Endeavour comes in three different variants, namely the Endeavour 3.0L 4X4 AT, Endeavour 3.0L 4x2 AT, and Endeavour 2.5L 4X2 MT. • Endeavour is considered as one of the sturdiest vehicles for off-roads as well as on rough terrains. • It includes an array of interesting features, such as ABS, EBD, and ESP, thereby making it one of the safest vehicles on the road.
