  2. Meet the Teacher • Education: M.S.Ed. From Auburn University Montgomery B.S.Ed. From the University of Georgia • Experience: 21 years teaching Special Ed., 1 and 2 in Georgia 14 years teaching grades K, 1 and 3 in Alabama

  5. Classroom Policies • Lunch Money: Breakfast $1.15 Lunch $2.40 Milk .40 Ice Cream $1.00 Visitor $3.25 • You can pay for meals on-line at www.myschoolbucks.com • Lunch money and ice cream money must be paid separately.

  6. Classroom Policies • School Hours 7:45-2:25 • Lunch: 11:20-11:50 • Specials: 1:30-2:10 Monday- Music Tuesday- Rotation Day Wednesday- Art Thursday- Library Friday- PE(wear your sneakers!)

Classroom Policies Daily Schedule: 7:45-8:30 Instructional Focus or Phonics 8:30-9:10 Writing/Language Arts 9:10-10:30 Reading/Stations/Small Groups(9:15-10:00 EIP) 10:30-11:00Math 11:00-11:15 Recess 11:20-11:50 Lunch 11:55-12:50Math/Stations/Small Group (12:00-12:40 EIP) 12:50-1:20 Science/Social Studies

  8. Classroom Policies • Birthdays: Per school rules and procedures, we are no longer allowed to pass out treats for birthdays. You may purchase ice cream for the class from the cafeteria. • Absence Notes: Any time your child has been absent, they must bring a note explaining their absence on the first day of their return to school. • Snacks: Healthy snacks can help boost a child's mental and physical skills. For this reason, we have snack every morning at approximately 9:15. The children will be eating as they work, so snack should be quick, clean and individually wrapped. A monthly calendar will go home letting you know when to send snacks. Some suggested healthy snacks are: • Crackers • Rice Cakes• String cheese• Mini-muffins• Raisins• Bagels • Pretzels• Fruit and/or vegetables• Granola bars• Cereal• Popcorn

Classroom Policies • Personal Items: No toys, games, radios, collectible cards, etc. I will send a note home if there is an occasion when this policy will change. • Transportation: Any changes in afternoon transportation must be sent to school in writing. This is school policy and transportation cannot be changed without written consent for the safety of the children. • Field Trips/Volunteers: Henry County requires Background Checks for all parent volunteers. If you think you want to go on any field trips or volunteer in the classroom, please see the office for a form as soon as possible!

  10. Classroom Policies: Homework • READ ALOUD to your child for 20 minutes every night. As the year progresses, you should be able to share the read aloud responsibilities with your child. • If you are looking for good books for you and your child to read please go to Scholastic.com. HQ2K9 is our class code. Every dollar spent gives our class points that we can redeem for books for our class library! • PRACTICE SIGHT WORDS.

  12. Classroom Policies: Communication • Daily communication is available through your child’s Panther Book. This will go home every day.
