Applied Business Management Program A pathway program ideally suited for internationally educated professionals who are looking to make business management their career choice.
Program Highlights: • A full-time program over 12-month including coursework and 175 hour Internship placement. • Ideally suited for professionals looking to upgrade their management skills. • An ideal stepping stone for professional success in Manitoba and beyond.
Program Modules: 1 Management courses that culminate in the Certificate in Management and Administration 2 Career Success workshops that prepare learners for success in the workplace 3 On –the-job experience
1: Management Module • This module includes 8 management courses (36 in-class hours per course) • Courses build general management, financial management and accounting skills within a Canadian context • After successful completion of coursework, students are awarded a University of Manitoba Certificate in Management and Administration Courses: Canadian Business: An Introduction - Managerial Communication - Canadian Business Law - Introductory Accounting for Business - Organizational Behaviour - Financial Management - Strategic Analysis - Project Management
2: Career Success Module • Career Success workshops prepare learners for success in the workplace • Learners develop the soft skills that are required in professional contexts, such as successfully applying for a job, communicating effectively and establishing a professional network Workshops: The Canadian Workplace - Intercultural Communication - Pronunciation Clinic - Powerful Business Writing - Effective Presentation Skills - Networking 101 - Individual Language Support
3: Work Experience Module • A 175 hour work-integrated learning project. • Work placements are set up by the University of Manitoba based on the professional interests of students. • Workplace providers represent a wide range of Manitoba industries, including agriculture, aerospace industry, finance industry, and the public service sector.

The Manitoba Advantage Manitoba is an excellent choice for studying because it offers many advantages to international students: • A high standard of living, but relatively low cost of living • Students are eligible for Manitoba health coverage from the first day of their program • Students are eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit and the Manitoba provincial nominee program (MPNP) • 60% of tuition can be claimed as a tax rebate when filing income tax in Manitoba
Entrance Requirements • High School Diploma • A minimum of two years of work experience preferred English Language Requirement: • IELTS 6.0 • TOEFL iBT 80 Students who have not completed a standardized test, can be assessed via the IEP’s online placement test prior to arrival.
Students who do not meet the English requirements: • Students not meeting the English language requirements will be admitted into the Intensive English Program based on standardized language tests scores • IEP students will receive conditional acceptance to the Applied Business Management Program. • Upon successful completion of the Intensive English Program, students can join the Management Program.
Language Requirements: The chart below indicates the approximate length of study time in the IEP needed in order to achieve the minimum language requirements: Please note: Timelines are approximate and only apply for intake into the Applied Business Management Program, NOT undergraduate studies.
The Intensive English Program • Seven levels of English from beginner to advanced • Monthly start dates • 24 hours of instruction per week including language practice in all 4 skill areas: speaking – listening – reading - writing • Socio-Cultural activities • Students who successfully complete level 700 in the IEP will be admitted into the Applied Business Management Program
