  2. K-12 State Longitudinal Data System Student Record ExchangeIntroduction The Data Governance group identified an opportunity to support district and school staff in the registration of transfer students. As a result of that suggestion a tool to appropriately share state-held student information and facilitate the request of official records between districts was developed. Sept 2010

  3. K-12 State Longitudinal Data System Student Records Exchange • For example, we are a school in the Aberdeen District and have a student, Mark, in our office registering for school. • Using this tool, we will be able to search for Mark in the State Student Records Exchange, view and download information about the student and make a formal request for his records. Sept 2010

  4. K-12 State Longitudinal Data System Student Records Exchange • We find Mark, who has been in Bellevue and Monroe School Districts this year, with Bellevue being the most recent. • We would select the most recent Bellevue record. Sept 2010

  5. K-12 State Longitudinal Data System Student Records Exchange • After looking at the enrollment information and determining this is the student we are registering, we would choose ‘I Agree’ to certify we have the authority to view Mark’s records. • At this point an e-mail is sent to Newport High School in Bellevue District notifying them that someone has viewed their student. You are about to view confidential information concerning the student listed above. By selecting “I agree” below, you certify this student is transferring to your school and you are therefore authorized to view this student's confidential information. A message will be sent to the Sending School District informing them you are reviewing this student's information. Sept 2010

  6. K-12 State Longitudinal Data System Student Records Exchange • We now see all of the State information about this student. • From here, we can download an extract of this data or request the records from the school. Continued on next slide Sept 2010
