  3. The Current Training Situation BFTS Tamworth CT- 4 (GAP) HQC Oakey Kiowa (GAP) • Issues • Time in training • Limited capability of training platforms • Good at teaching pure flying skills, but… OTT/ROBC Oakey S-70 (ARH)

  4. Training Drivers • Technical Complexity • Easier to fly • Harder to operate / manage • High Cognitive Loading • Complex dynamic environment • Situational awareness • Crew Functioning • Multi-crew environment • Semi / Autonomous functions

  5. Chief of Army’s Intent • Must develop the appropriate skills: • Cognitive skills • Situational awareness • Potential to act as captain of a crew • Download training where possible: • Early exposure to advanced systems • Smooth demand load • Must be Cost Effective: • Training on cheaper platforms • Efficient use of time

  6. CHALLENGES FOR ARMY • Integration of training across two Projects (Air 5428, HATS) • Army not the lead service for either Project
