  3. 2013 Accomplishments Sheriff Gordon Smith completes 5th year. The report that follows is a “2013 Accomplishment” report and reflects some of the more significant events of the Sheriff’s Office.

  4. The men and women of the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office continually strive to contribute to each of these accomplishments and should be acknowledged for their professionalism, dedication and loyalty to serving all citizens of Bradford County.

  5. Deputy’s on Patrol Property Checks = 904 Disturbances = 438 Traffic Citations = 4857 Legal Advise = 849 Traffic Stops = 10637 Misc. = 19,820 Assault/ Battery = 196 Reports = 2439 Mental Illness = 129 Total Patrol Calls for Service = 40269

  7. Victims of Crime Act • Funds Victim Advocate Position – VOCA Grant. • Advocate made contact with approximately 270victimsin person, by mail or by telephone. Ninety (90) of those victims were victims of Domestic Violence. • Approximately 350 follow up contacts with victims. • Examples of on scene response: • Domestic Violence • Sexual Battery on children and adults • Elder Abuse • Death Notification • Assisted Victims in filing Restraining Orders

  11. Bradford County Judicial Services • Persons entering Court House: 48,501 • Security Desk & Court Room hours: 2,536 • Inmate transports: 1,048 • Court Services was consolidated with the jail for better utilization of staff. • 2 full time employees - (part time utilized).

  12. Sex Offender Unit Jail staff register, monitor, and verify addresses of 108 registered Sex Offenders living in Bradford County. 21 are Registered Sexual Predators. On supervision - 25

  13. Sex Offender Unit cont. 2013 also saw the implementation of “Red Signs” placed at the residences of all Sexual Predators. Just another tool to help keep the community better informed and safe.

  14. Jail Accomplishments Passed Florida Model Jail Standards with Passed Medical Inspection. Passed Florida Fire Marshall Inspection. all inspections it is noted that jail is quiet, well maintained clean and orderly. Painted jail (last time 2006) Updated video systems for jail and courthouse.

  15. Total inmates processed – 2,674 Average Daily Population: 145 Males: 120 Females: 25 Average Inmate Days - 19

  16. Inmate Work Crew Provided work crew to county and municipalities – averaging five inmates per work week for a total of 9000 hours. Special events, weekends, other details total of 1700 hours. Saving $160,000 in labor cost.

  17. Animal Control Inmates utilized to help feed, water and clean kennels at shelter. Cats 734 in and 725 out Dogs 901 in and 900 out Began Construction for new Animal Control

  31. Phone Calls by the Number Total Number of Incoming Admin Lines - 16 Total Number of Incoming 911 Lines - 14 Average Number of On-Duty Communications Officers per Shift – 2 Swing Shift - 1 Calls Received Admin Lines – 64,277 911 Lines – 13,331 Total – 77,608

  32. Calls Cont. Previously during 2012 all calls were handled by 2 on-duty communications officers during the day time and evening shifts. In 2013 a Swing Shift 3rd position was added to off set demanding times and better serve our community. In addition to answering the telephone calls, these same on-duty communications officers are responsible for all radio traffic for the following agencies:

Through extensive training and teamwork, they manage the emergency calls for service from the smallest of incidences to those requiring multi-agency responses.
