  3. Wales Wales is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain, bordered by England to its east and the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea to its west. It had a population in 2011 of 3,063,456 and has a total area of 20,779 km2 (8,023 sq. mi). Wales has over 1,200 km (750 mi) of coastline and is largely mountainous, with its highest peaks in the north and central areas, including Snowdon (YrWyddfa), its highest summit. The country lies within the north temperate zone and has a changeable, maritime climate.

  6. Cardiff Cardiff, Wales’ Capital city offers spectacular shopping, museums, restaurants and entertainment. Easy to explore on foot you can visit the National Museum Cardiff, the amazing Cardiff Castle and the impressive Millennium Stadium all within the city centre. Top class entertainment is on offer at Cardiff Bay with its restaurants, waterside views and Wales Millennium Centre.

  7. Newport Newport (Welsh: Casnewydd) is a cathedral and university city and unitary authority in south east Wales. It is located on the River Usk close to its confluence with the Severn estuary, approximately 18 km east of Cardiff. The city forms part of the Cardiff-Newport metropolitan area with a population of 1,097,000. Newport has been a port since medieval times, when a castle was built by the Normans. The town grew significantly in the 19th century, when its port became the focus of coal exports from the eastern valleys of South Wales. During the 20th century, the docks declined in importance, but Newport remained an important manufacturing and engineering centre. It was granted city status in 2002. Newport hosted the Ryder Cup in 2010. It has been announced the city will play host to the 2014 NATO summit.

  8. SWANSEA Swansea is Wales' "City by the Sea" beingperfectlysituated on the edge of a five-mile wide bay. Swansea is home to Wales' biggest indoor market whereyou can sample traditional Welsh delicacieslikelaverbread and freshcockles from Penclawdd. Locallycaughtfreshfish can also be boughtalong with localsouvenirsincluding Welsh ladies' hats and intricatelycarved love-spoons. Youngstersenjoy the nightlife in the manypubs and barscentred on Wind Street. Some saytheyenjoyittoomuch!

  9. Wrexham As the largest town in the north of Wales, it is a major centre of the region's administrative, commercial, retail and educational infrastructure. Wrexhamistwinned with the Germandistrict of MärkischerKreis and the Polishtown of Racibórz.
