2. INTRODUCTION The WVMCCD Police Department employs both sworn and non-sworn personnel and provides a number of important services to the College Community. • General law enforcement/safety services • Parking and traffic services • Business office services • Emergency Preparedness

3. Authority & jurisdiction • California Penal Code, Section 830.32 and Education Code, Section 72330 (Same authority as municipal police and County Sheriff’s) • The following persons are peace officers whose authority extends to any place in the state for the purpose of performing their primary duty… Ca. Penal Code, 830.32 • …enforce the law on or near the campus of the community College and on or near the grounds or properties owned, operated, controlled, or administered by the community college… Education Code, Section 72330

4. ORGANIZATION • Nine full-time sworn police officers(Includes Chief and Lt.) • Five full-time non-sworn – Office staff and Parking Services

5. HOURS OF POLICE PATROL • 6:30 am to 2:00 am, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

6. MISSION COLLEGE POLICE OFFICE HOURS: M-Th. 8:30 am-9:30 pm; F: 8:30am – 4:30pm; closed weekends & Holidays

7. WEST VALLEY COLLEGE POLICE OFFICE HOURS: m-f 9:00 am-5:00 pm, closed weekends & Holidays

9. PARKING SERVICES • Maintain parking meters • Collection and accounting of revenue • Parking and traffic control • Enforce parking regulations • Special event staffing • Assist with parking lot and roadway design and maintenance • Manage Levi’s Stadium parking lot use contract

10. BUSINESS OFFICE SERVICES • Police Records • Statistical reporting – Clery/Uniform Crime Reports • Live Scan – DOJ/FBI electronic fingerprinting • Sex Offender Registration • Parking Services – permitting and appeals • Lost and Found

12. CLERY ACT Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC § 1092 (f) is a federal law requiring disclosure of crime on and around campuses. The Act is enforced by the US Dept. of Education. Requirements: • Publish an Annual Security Report (October 1st) • Public Crime Log • Crime Statistics Disclosure (Seven major categories and sub-categories) • Timely Warnings (Serious or on-going threats – ASR Incidents) • Emergency Notifications (Significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to health and safety)

Campus SaVe: Violence Against Women Act (Sect. 304): Crime Statistics • The SaVe Act adds the following offenses to the list of criminal offense for which statistics must be reported: • Domestic violence • Dating violence • Sexual assault • Stalking • A student or employee who reports to an institution of higher education that she/he has been a victim of these crimes, whether it has occurred on or off-campus, shall be provided with a written explanation of his or her rights and options.
