A timeline to help keep you on track • Plan for your preparation for the MCAT: Winter/Spring 2019. Take the MCAT somewhere between January and April ideally, 2019 • Attend one of the February applicant meetings (see Health-E News) 2019 • Register with the Health Professions Recommendation Committee by late March – absolute deadline is April 1, 2019 • Have individual letters of recommendation sent to the HPRC by May 1, 2019 (4-5 letters, at least one from a Tufts professor) – you will register your recommenders through HPRC. • Complete and submit the AMCAS in June, 2019 • Complete school secondary applications in July and August, 2019 • Complete and submit the AACOMAS in August or September, 2019 • Wait for interview invitations from medical schools, September – April 2019/2020 • Matriculate into medical school in August, 2020

Writing about yourself • For the Tufts Health Professions Recommendation Committee – a 2-4 page autobiography that talks about upbringing , family, early influences, experiences, values and more • For your application to medical school – a 1 ½ page personal statement that is more focused, telling your narrative by choosing important elements from above that tie together and inform the reader about who you are
