  1. PSS iPAD ManagementStaff Induction – All staff GOAL: To communicate school wide processes and responsibilities for the management and use of iPads across the school

  2. Intent of meeting School has purchased 55 ipads (+ existing ipads) = 60 + SEP ipads. The ICT – iPad team has developed school-wide protocols to ensure: • Security of ipads and care of ipads – movement around school • Effective management – booking, charging, file storage • Equitable sharing, but maximised use • Careful app selection to improve student learning and digi-tech skills • Appropriate student use and online safety • Roles and responsibilities for ipadmanagement – shared by ALL

  3. LOCATION iPads will be stored in secure charging stations in each building. Each station holds 10 iPads in 2 baskets. Ipads will be labelled with building letter then ipad number eg F1, F2, F3. It is intended however that ipads will be shared across the school to maximise use. • Prep building – bench behind kitchen area • Year 1 building downstairs – bench in walkthrough area • Year 2 & 3 – under telephone near Learning Support • Year 6 building – bench in walkthrough area • Year 4 building – bench in walkthrough area • Year 5 – Library • SEP will need additional charging station EACH TEACHER WILL BE ISSUED A KEY TO THE CHARGING STATION - ONLY UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE STUDENTS TO ACCESS THE CHARGING STATIONS

  4. BOOKING PROCESS Use booking timetable on PSS One Portal • PERMANENT TIMESLOTS allocated to each sector (may be re-allocated according to school priorities) • FLEXIBLE TIME SLOTS available for temporary bookings no more than 1 week in advance – please share time equitably across your sector. • ADDITIONAL IPADS may be booked from other sectors providing they are not in use by the sector. • DAMAGE OR PROBLEMS to be logged immediately with service centre by supervising teacher (see slides at end of presentation)

  5. STORAGE / SECURITY / MOVEMENT • ALL IPADS MUST BE RETURNED TO LOCKED STATION AT END OF EVERY SESSION FOR RECHARGING & SECURITY. Each teacher will be issued a key to the cabinet, which is to be locked at all times. • Ipads should always be carried in baskets, by a teacher or adult – not students • Teachers are responsible for RECHARGING ipads after every session (NB Video apps use battery quickly) - Charging cables are attached to station and MUST NOT BE REMOVED– teachers are provided with one classroom cable – teacher’s responsibility to replace if lost. • Students MUST date and sign before every use – signout sheets attached to baskets (teachers maintain). • Actions taken if there is deliberate student damage – please make sure all students have read and accepted the ICT agreement at the end of the Student Powerpoint – and are aware of consequences for damage or inappropriate use. This includes immediate parent contact. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE STUDENTS TO ACCESS CHARGING STATIONS

  6. STUDENT USE OF IPADS – IPAD ‘RULES’ Teachers are to allocate time to teaching ipad rules and routines. ALL students must view the student powerpoint and accept conditions of use, as well as consequences for inappropriate use, before accessing ipads. • Whole school password – 0419 • Sign out sheet for student accountability – students will be responsible for damage as per enrolment agreement • Accessing internet – boundaries (what students can and can’t access) and cyber safety • Ethics around respecting others work and not accessing files or messages intended for others • Finished work (and photos, files etc) should be saved to server and deleted from ipad (may require PDF conversion) • PHOTOSfor educational purposes (not ‘selfies’) – must have signed media release • ‘Clean up’ of ipad files at end of term – Year level coordinator?

  7. WHOLE SCHOOL RULES See student power point BE RESPONSIBLE- handle ipads with care BE SAFE – only access safe sites and don’t share personal details BE RESPECTFUL – respect others work and privacy BE A LEARNER – use ipads for intended purpose only Consequences for non-compliance – removal of ipad privileges for a week or more depending on severity of student behaviour.

  8. APP SELECTION – Approx40 apps (incApple apps) KEY CONSIDERATIONS: • Bruce (IT) will sync/update/install apps on ipadsfrom central mac – necessary for efficiency and management • Common core apps on allipads so classes can utilise additional ipads across the school • Particular apps specific to UP / LP / LST / SEP to be agreed upon by sector in 2018 - no individual app installations • Apps must have a clear educational purpose that aligns with the Australian Curriculum and Digital Technology priorities. A limited number of apps will be allocated to each sector, therefore sector approval is required • Process for selecting / approving apps that ensures they are safe, educationally appropriate, and beneficial to student learning 1. Check Departmental Risk Registry for risk rating https://qlddet.service-now.com/website_review_ui_home.do 2. Consult with sector to decide whether app is a priority – staff meeting once per term 3. Determine links with AC (specific content descriptors) and ICT / Digital capabilities 4. Ensure app provides a specific advantage over other pedagogical tools (SAMR 4 tiers of impact below) 5. Fill out App request – signed by budget manager and Principal – incomplete requests will be returned 6. Forward signed and completed forms to ICT Technician via pigeon hole Once installed teacher needs to book a staff meeting slot to present / teach the app to all staff members

  9. SAMR APP IMPACT LEVELS Educatorstechnology.com Appsineducation.blogspot.com Apple PD information

  10. FOLLOW UP ACTIONS – Team role sharing ACTIONS BEGINNING OF YEAR – ALL TEACHING TEAMS RESPONSIBLE • PD for new staff – ipad processes, bookings, responsibilities • Review student ipad rules (powerpoint) with class and revisit agreement • Allocate building manager to coordinate and update timetable • Newsletter notice – revisit IT agreement and media permissions ONGOING • Charging / secure storage / signing out of ipads – accountability • Report damage immediately to IT person and make parent contact END OF YEAR - Building manager to work with students to clear unwanted files, photos and trash from ipads

Funds? • Learning Support funding additional charging cabinet • Splitters (for small group work?) • Keyboard – Bluetooth? • Additional cords for downloading files to computers (avoids removing charging cords from cabinet) – more solid cords available? • Replacement budget • Reflector (mirroring and streaming) for laptops - $20 each • Protective covers……. • VGA Dongle for IWB projection approx $25
