  2. Mica gaskets can work efficiently at high temperatures It is very important to choose the right gasket made up of the right gasket material that can serve your purpose. There are various materials available in gaskets and seals and each one of them is designed to provide a specific quality and fulfill the requirements. Various factors like size, speed, temperature, need to be kept in mind while choosing the gasket material. Generally, gaskets are made up of flat sheets of different materials like rubber, metal, paper, fiberglass, plastic polymer, and each of these materials is responsible for a specific property of the gasket. Out of all the conditions of the seal, high temperature is the most important and common factor which greatly affects the gasket material. There are various machines and pumps in which the temperature reaches at extremely higher levels and gasket material starts melting in such conditions, and some of them also start to coke due to the presence of oxygen. Mica sheet material is best to be used in such cases as it has a high resistance to heat and can withstand high-temperatures and also work efficiently even in the presence of oxygen.
