PART 1
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم 1 ـ أَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلَ مُظْلِمَاً بِقُدْرَتِهِ، وَجآءَ بِالنَّهارِ مُبْصِراً بِرَحْمَتِهِ، وَكَسانِيضِيآءَهُ وَآتانِي نِعْمَتَهُ “Praise be to Allah who removed the darkness of the night, with his power; and then he brought the day which makes you see, with his mercy; He covered me with His (its) light, and he gave me/brought to me His bounties”. But, the night has benefits, so why is the Imam praising Allah for removing the darkness of the night? This is because Darkness has got benefits, but over darkness can bring about many problems e.g. depression, fear, earning problems, etc…so we thank Allah (swt) for giving us darkness, but also removing it after some time.
CONT… Why did Allah (swt) mention the removing of the darkness of the night with his power, but then the vision of the day with his mercy? This is because night is more dangerous, so we need the Power of Allah (swt) to protect us. And when it comes to the daytime, there are many benefits, for e.g. earning, and this rizq is out of the mercy from Allah (swt), and his mercy spreads out….it is also mentioned in the ahadith, that had it not been for the mercy of Allah, his rizq would not have spread out to all the unbelievers…it is out of his mercy that he gives everyone. (Or for e.g. rain, sunlight, etc..everything is his mercy)
CONT… When we say that “He covered me with his light…”..so this pronoun refers to the light of Allah’s mercy…. The Quran also speaks about the night and darkness….(next slide)…
Verses OF YASEEN • وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ {37} • [Shakir 36:37] And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; • وَالَّذِينَ كَسَبُواْ السَّيِّئَاتِ جَزَاء سَيِّئَةٍ بِمِثْلِهَا وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ اللّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ كَأَنَّمَا أُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعًا مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ مُظْلِمًا أُوْلَـئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ {27} • [Shakir 10:27] And (as for) those who have earned evil, the punishment of an evil is the like of it, and abasement shall come upon them-- they shall have none to protect them from Allah-- as if their faces had been covered with slices of the dense darkness of night; these are the inmates of the fire; in it they shall abide.
“O Allah! Just as you made me remain (alive) till this day, then let me remain the likes of it; and send your blessings on Mohammed (saww) and his household, and do not let me have misery in this Thursday, and in other days and nights, by committing the forbidden acts, and committing sins; and give me/bless me the good (of this Thursday), and whatever good is in it, and whatever comes after it, and keep away from me the evil of this day and whatever is in it, and whatever comes after it”.
So the Imam (as) is not worried about physical misery, but the misery of committing sins…this is the level of piety of the Aimmah (as) So, what is the difference between “the good of this day”, and “the good in it”….?? This is because the day will end, but the good that you get from the day (e.g. thawaab) can continue, and be saved.
Verses of THE KHAYR • ا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلاً {59} • [Shakir 4:59] O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you; then if you quarrel about anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the last day; this is better and very good in the end.
VERSES OF KHAYR (CONT…) We have indeed sent down to you clothing to cover your shame, and (clothing) for beauty and clothing that guards (against evil), that is the best. This is of the communications of Allah that they may be mindful..
HELPING OTHERS فَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ {38} [Shakir 30:38] Then give to the near of kin his due, and to the needy and the wayfarer; this is best for those who desire Allah's pleasure, and these it is who are successful.
CONT….. • يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ {12} • [Shakir 58:12] O you who believe! when you consult the Messenger, then offer something in charity before your consultation; that is better for you and purer; but if you do not find, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
CONT…… أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَتَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَاللَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ {13} [Shakir 58:13] Do you fear that you will not (be able to) give in charity before your consultation? So when you do not do it and Allah has turned to you (mercifully), then keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and obey Allah and His Messenger; and Allah is Aware of what you do.
No intercession will benefit • يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَنفِقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لاَّ بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلاَ خُلَّةٌ وَلاَ شَفَاعَةٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ {254} • [Shakir 2:254] O you who believe! spend out of what We have given you before the day comes in which there is no bargaining, neither any friendship nor intercession, and the unbelievers-- they are the unjust. • اللّهُ لاَ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لاَ تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلاَ نَوْمٌ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلاَّ بِمَا شَاء وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ {255} • [Shakir 2:255] Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Ever living, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
The Infallible (AS) can intercede • وَنَسُوقُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًا {86} • [Shakir 19:86] And We will drive the guilty to hell thirsty • لَا يَمْلِكُونَ الشَّفَاعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ عِندَ الرَّحْمَنِ عَهْدًا {87} • [Shakir 19:87] They shall not control intercession, save he who has made a covenant with the Beneficent Allah. • وَإِذِ ابْتَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي قَالَ لاَ يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ {124} • [Shakir 2:124] And when his Lord tried Ibrahim with certain words, he fulfilled them. He said: Surely I will make you an Imam of men. Ibrahim said: And of my offspring? My covenant does not include the unjust, said He.
The one whom Allah swt is pleased with • ا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ {27} • [Shakir 89:27] O soul that art at rest! • ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً {28} • [Shakir 89:28] Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), • فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي {29} • [Shakir 89:29] So enter among My servants, • وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي {30} • [Shakir 89:30] And enter into My garden.
The one who witnesses for the Prophet Mohammad (S) who is HAQ • وَلَا يَمْلِكُ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ الشَّفَاعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ {86} • [Shakir 43:86] And those whom they call upon besides Him have no authority for intercession, but he who bears witness of the truth and they know (him). • وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَسْتَ مُرْسَلاً قُلْ كَفَى بِاللّهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْكِتَابِ {43} • [Shakir 13:43] And those who disbelieve say: You are not a messenger. Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and whoever has knowledge of the Book.
PART 2

THE FIVE THINGS ON THURSDAY O Allah, fulfill for me on Thursday, these five things; no capacity of a genrous person can handle it, except for your generosity, and nothing can handle it, except for your bounties (which are endless) So, what are these five things?.....
