Problem 2.3 Describing Rotations Polygon A’B’C’D’ is the image of polygon ABCD under a rotation of 60º about Point P.
Polygon A’B’C’D’ is the image of polygon ABCD under a rotation of 60º about Point P. 2. For each vertex of polygon ABCD find the measure of the angle formed by the vertex, Point P, and the image of the vertex.
You should notice that the angles formed by the vertex, Point P, & the image of the vertex are all 60º. Also, each matching length is equal.
The important things were: the angles are equal to each other (which was equal to the angle of rotation). each matching length is equal (AP = A’P)
B. Using what you just learned, you will now draw the rotations of the next two polygons. The important things were: the angles are equal to each other (which was equal to the angle of rotation). each matching length is equal
Notice as the figure is turned the image of the vertex travels in the path of a circle. This is true for all of the points. The center of all of those circle is your point of rotation.
Perform the indicated rotation and label the vertices appropriately. Rotate 90º about Point P. Rotate 45º about Point Q.
Either answer is correct. There are two ways you can rotate it 90º about the point. The orange is the original. The red one is if you rotate it 90º clockwise. The yellow one is if you rotate it 90º counterclockwise.

C. Use the specified rotation to rotate the image of the original polygon. How does the location of the final image compare with the location of the original polygon.

Complete the definition of a rotation: A rotation of d degrees about a point P matches any point X on a figure to an image Point X’ so that… the measure of angle XPX’ is d degrees and the distance of XP equals the distance X’P.
