SCHOLARSHIPS • Start early! (takes time and energy) • Senior News webpage and Counselors’ Office • Check with individual colleges. (Deadlines are often early.) • Local scholarships may be smaller but easier to get. (PNGHS Local Scholarship Application is due February 14th.) • Be organized. Get letters of recommendation ahead of time. Keep your resume updated. • Official or Unofficial Transcript Requests • Check with any organizations with whom you or your family members are associated, such as church groups, places of employment, etc….. • NEVER pay someone to help you find scholarships!
FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) • Opens October 1st • You may use the IRS data retrieval tool to pull in pay-per-year tax information. • Some scholarships require a FAFSA application. • Applying for FAFSA will tell you what grants and/or loans you qualify for. • All students planning on attending college should complete a FAFSA application. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov Financial Aid & College/Career Night: September 30th 6:00 pm in the H.S.
