  1. Aluminum Gravity Casting: An Authentic Die Casting Method For Quality Metal Parts Manufacturing Gravity die casting also known as gravity casting or permanent mold casting, is a casting process used to produce high-quality, high-precision, repeatable metal parts. In this process, molten metal like aluminum is poured into a permanent iron or steel mold. With the help of the aluminum gravity casting method, die cast manufacturers produce wide many metal parts for diverse industries such as automotive and mechanical components manufacturing industries. Gravity casting process The metal casting process where metals like aluminum and zinc are often used as casting material, i.e. gravity casting is the most traditional. In this process, the molten metal is poured into a permanent metal mold. No other force but gravity is used to hold the poured metal in the mold. The basic steps involved in the aluminum gravity casting process are as follows:  Mold designing – Molds are generally made of iron or steel. This gives stability to the mold at high temperatures. A typical mold consists of two parts, the base part, and the upper part. The cavity of the mold is designed like the shape of the desired product.  Mold coating – Before casting, the mold is coated with a lubricant so that the casting metal does get stuck to the inner surface of the mold.  Aluminum melting – The metal to be cast, in this case, aluminum is melted in a furnace at a certain temperature called melting point. The temperature of the melted aluminum and its chemical composition is closely monitored to ensure its purest liquid form.  Pouring the molten metal – the molten metal is poured from the furnace to the mold. The furnace and mold are connected through a channel called a sprue.  Solidification of aluminum – The mold cavity is filled with liquid aluminum fully. It is then allowed to cool down and solidify. It takes some time. After solidification, aluminum gets the shape of the mold and the desired product is formed.  Release of the product – The mold is now opened to collect the casting product. There may be excess metal inside the mold which is collected for reuse.  Final touch – The product may need some final shaping, metalizing, or polishing as per the requirement of the client.

  2. Rockman has been using the aluminum gravity-casting process for decades. Gravity casting is the most reliable casting method in the automotive industry that needs high- precision products. This is a comparatively inexpensive process offering high-quality final products. Rockman has the requisite infrastructure to meet the deadlines and bulk supply of casting products. Advantage of gravity casting This casting process has some advantages over other casting processes:  High-quality products: If you want high-quality casting products, then gravity casting is the most reliable one.  Less porosity: Gravity casting produces products is the least possible porosity compared to other casting processes.  Cost-effective process: It is cost-effective as it doesn’t require high pressure or any complex process.  Best mechanical properties: The controlled and natural solidification process in aluminum gravity casting produces casting products with the best possible mechanical properties. Gravity casting is the trusted casting process for designing automotive parts in bulk with assured quality. Die casting experts like Rockman makes it possible to manufacture versatile casting products through this method.
