  1. Chandra/XMM-Newton Duplicate Targets • Chandra Cycle 5 and XMM-Newton Cycle 3 reviews held at approximately the same time, results of XMM-Newton not available to Chandra Reviewers • 15 targets approved by Chandra and XMM-Newton, proposals submitted by the same team to both observatories • identical target defined as pointings within 4.5 arcmin • 9 targets had identical PIs on proposals to both observatories • 6 targets had different PIs, but PI on one proposal was CoI on the related proposal • additional duplicates where the XMM-Newton target was priority C were ignored, since probability for scheduling was very low 595ks of Chandra time awarded to 15 duplicate proposals

  2. Chandra/XMM-Newton Duplicate Targets Investigators were asked to choose one observatory, or give short justification for both: • 2 investigators (3 targets) dropped Chandra in favor of XMM-Newton • 3 investigators chose Chandra • 10 targets will be observed by both Chandra and XMM-Newton • 80ks of Chandra observing time saved • Plans for future - • coordinate with XMM-Newton so that Peer Reviews are separated by enough time that results from one will be available to other • provide each other with lists of already approved targets and observing time from all previous cycles - expands conflict checking now done within each observatory's program
