  3. President Bush signs a $10.5 billion relief package and sends 7,200 troops to disaster area 4 days after the disaster. • Bush didn’t visit New Orleans until September 2, 2005 – 4 days after the disaster • FEMA criticized for slow response and turning away aid.

  4. Mayor Nagin criticized for poor evacuation plan. • Dehydration and cholera became an issue as the water supply decreased and was contaminated.
