  3. Number Single subject --> Single verb         Christina runs track. Christina or Donna runs track. Plural subject --> Plural verb         Christina and Donna run track. Watch out for prepositional phrases!   The girl in three of Jacob's classes competes in forensics.                Single Subject                                Single Verb

Time             Past                           Aaron perched on a stool.             Present           Bea perches on the edge of her chair.             Future                      Chris will perch in the dead tree.             Perfect Tense:  add the verb "to have" or "to be"             Past Perfect            Daisy has perched in a pine.             Present Perfect       Erich is perching precariously in the top branches of a burr oak.             Future Perfect       Felicity will have perched above the creek.
