Scienceworks On Friday the 16th May the Year 5 and 6 children went to Scienceworks as part of our exploration of our topic, “What Happens when Nature Goes Wrong?” This is a presentation about what we did there and what we learnt.
by Matthew scienceworks My favorite activity at Scienceworks was the cube maker because I enjoy mental challenges I learnt that things may look and sound easy but they are actually hard.
Trip to Scienceworks My favourite activity was racing Cathy Freeman because it was challenging and it was fast. I learnt more about the weather in the planetarium. Overall i had heaps of fun.
Scienceworks At Scienceworks we participated in many different activities. My Favourite activity was the Gymnastics beam Routine because I really enjoy gymnastics as an after school sport.
future car Scienceworks One activity I liked at Scienceworks was the build your own car because it was really cool to see how eco- friendly your car is. I learnt how eco-friendly or non eco-friendly cars can be.
On Friday the 16th of May we were lucky enough to visit Scienceworks. I loved the whole excursion but my favourite part was Think Ahead. In this exhibition there was a motorbike and I and a few others girls were seeing how many people could fit on the motorbike at one time. This was funny especially when we got stuck and couldn’t get off! By Charlotte
At Scienceworks one of the activities I really enjoyed was racing Cathy Freeman on a small running track. You had to press a button and it would tell you when to start running and you had to beat Cathy Freeman’s high score. This activity was in Sportsworks.
by David M It was the day I was going on a excursion to Scienceworks. I got on the bus with Oscar. A long bus route later we were there at the place. I was in Felicity’s mum’s group with Felicity, David (the other David),Laura, Judy and Charlotte. I learned tons of awesome info including info on computers like what the future is going to be like! I can safely say I am going to university because of this info!
Scienceworks by Marcus. Scienceworks was awesome my favourite exhibition was Think AheadI made heaps of futuristic cars. It was so cool! I learnt that the future is going to be awesome because of the flying cars body upgrades.
Scienceworks. On Friday the 16th of may the year fives and sixes went on a excursion to Scienceworks. We all split into four groups and went straight to Math-A-Mazing. At Math-A-Mazing we solved all these kind of problem solving equations. Mikaela and i ran straight to the rope problem where we had to have a rope around our arms each and we had to try and untangle it. Then we went to these cushion like shapes and we had to try and put them together and make a cube shape. When we made a kinda made cube shape we both jumped on it and destroyed it. Now that was the fun bit about Maths :). After Math-A-Mazing we had a lunch break. Then we went straight onto Sportworks. Now i’m just going to say I absolutely love sport so I enjoyed it. At Sportworks I went straight to the netball ring to have some shots but behind me was a wheel chair race so I just had to play so I played against Breianna. Obviously I won! No I’m joking, no really t I did because people were cheating and helping me so I didn’t deserve to win. By Felicity
By Laura My favourite area was Think Ahead. I loved building a town with those different bricks. Each brick was a building and we had to put it in the right area so there won’t be too many people and we won’t use too much money. It was really, really fun!
On friday 16th level 4 went to Scienceworks, we saw many little things but my favorite was the Planetarium because it showed us what our earth was like before dinosaurs and how it had formed. I learnt that we are destroying our beautiful earth and saw how it would look like if we continued doing the same. Jawharat
Scienceworks Scienceworks On Friday the year 6’s and year 5’s went to Scienceworks. We started off by going to Math-A-Mazing where there was a lot of puzzles that you had to solve like seeing which ball got to the bottom of a ramp first, or a wheel where you had to predict what order the balls came out in and Jayden and I were the 1234th person to win against the computer and there were about 9367 losses to the computer. John
On Friday, the 16th of the May, the year five and sixes went for an excursion to Scienceworks to explore our IBL topic “What happens when nature goes wrong?”. Everyone was very excited about the trip. After we arrived at Scienceworks, we broke up into small groups of five or six, each group had an adult leader, either a teacher or a parent. In my group, we had Jayden’s mother as our leader, her name was Angelica. Our group members were Jayden, John, Jwahrat, Carla, Ruby and I. We had a lot of fun and laughter in our group. In Scienceworks, we first had a snack then we went off to see the Math-A-Mazing. Math-A-Mazing was full of fun maths games that had maths strategie for everyone. It had a wide ranges of maths topic such as probability, angles, and the shortest journeys. We had a lot of fun and learning there. After lunch, we went to see the fun and exciting activities in the sportsworks exhibition. It had a lot of different activities to test our physical capabilities. There were also many fun activities, one of the most popular activities were racing with Cathy Freeman, no one could beat her. Then there were also games to test our vision, hand-eye coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and jumping capabilities. We also had a turn at different sports events, snowboarding, was one of the many. There was netball, baseball throws, cycling, canoeing and even paralympic events. I enjoyed all of them. By: Jenny
Planetarium The Planetarium was by far the best part about the trip. It talked all about earth and how it was created and how it will end. It also talked about how earth has living species on it. The Planetarium show-Our Living Climate- was a short film. There were many interesting things but my favourite was the interpretations of how animals looked before dinosaurs. Some other cool things they showed were how Venus and Earth could have been the same planet because of their similar composition but because Venus was several billion kilometers or so closer to the sun the land dried up and is not surrounded by as many protective layers of gass, allowing sunlight and heat to come in but not escape. like it does on earth. Science works Year 6 and 5 excursion to Scienceworks When the year 6s and 5s arrived at Scienceworks we got into our groups I was in Jasmine’s mums group, she was one of the parent helpers. We first arrived in the Math-A-Mazing exhibition. There were a lot of things to do in there. The first thing I did was the tieing up rope activity. I did that with Felicity we got tangled up instead of getting untied. There were these bricks but you couldn’t put a big brick on a small one. After a while I wanted to see other rooms we. Finally we ate our play lunch then went off to my favourite room of all… the Sportsworks room. I was so excited everyone lined up to verse Kathy Freeman. Everyone was trying to beat her. At the start I versed Claudia and I beat her. There was a wheel chair races that was a video game and you had to verse someone. I really liked the reflex area. by Mikaela
Planetarium The most thrilling part of Scienceworks for me was the planetarium. It was where you got to lie down on comfortable chairs while the ceiling was playing a short film. The short film we watched was called “Our Living Climate”. It was nearly like watching a movie while lying down. It was very relaxing. I learnt a lot about our climate. After we watched the short film we looked at the stars and pointed out the constellations. It was fantastic! Judy
Scienceworks Scienceworks Sportsworks The years 5 & 6 went to Scienceworks. My favourite exhibition was Sportsworks. The activities were great, I don’t even have a favourite to choose from. If I had to pick one I would go with the Cathy Freeman running race. Surprisingly I beat her score. I ran 1.77 seconds and her score was 2.00 seconds! I may have taken off way too early though. Another one I was interested in was the one where you determine how high you can jump. I got over 200cm. Maybe my dream of being able to dunk in Basketball might come true after all. By Zain
Scienceworks One activity that i liked was the Mechanical-Monkey because you get to control the monkey. At Scienceworks I learnt about angles since this game was in the Math-A-Mazing activities and about angles. A bit about about Math-A-Mazing. At Math-A-Mazing our group was solving problems and doing lots of challenges. During that hour our group basically wandered off to other challenges and activities. Christopher
ScienceWorks We saw a lot of interesting pictures in the planetarium like the constellation of stars. By David
Scienceworks At Scienceworks we went to the Planetarium, and I saw heaps of constellations.
