When you arrive, the head of the community quietly asks one of the boys to remove his earring.
In hesitant English, he explains that he knows it’s all right for boys to wear earrings in Canada; but it Haiti, only girls wear earrings.
At the end of your stay, your group visits many sites around Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital.
At the door to a museum, a guard stops your group. A girl who is wearing shorts has to wait outside.
As an outsider to the mainstream Haitian culture, how would you feel?
