  2. In this section you will learn to: • Edit a page • Create a new page • Create a folder • Put the page in the folder • Add a link to page/URL/email • Add a picture • Add a file • Add a gadget • Add a calendar The basics

  3. HELP Button Useful information when you need help!

  4. While all that information is useful, we rather not have it on the front page • Best way to keep this information is to move it to a separate page • So let us create a new page! • Click “Create Page” (top right corner) • Name your page “HELP” – OK and SAVE

  5. Go back to front page • Click EDIT • Highlight all text • Copy • How to find your help page? • Look under RECENT ACTIVITY • Click HELP page • Click Edit • Paste information • Click SAVE Recent Activity

  6. Click SAVE!

  7. Click EDIT at the page you wish to change the title of • Click the “abI” button next to the title • Rename help to HELP • Click Rename • Important! • If you rename a page, all links to that page should be checked! Changing a title of a page

  8. There are different ways to get to the pages you create • Click PAGES & FILES TEMPLATES (we will create templates later )

  9. Create links on the front page that makes it easy to locate it. • Click EDIT • Type text • Highlight text you wish to link (HELP) • Click either: Add link from toolbar OR click the page in side bar

  10. Add links to side bar • Click “Edit the sidebar” • Click EDIT • Delete information • Add the link “HELP” just like before • Click SAVE • A side bar is useful because you will see the side bar on EVERY page you visit! Good to add useful links here! Sidebar

Creating links between pages makes a wiki more interactive • Always remember to put the cursor where you want the link to be. • Different types of links? • Add Link • Browse Pages and Folders • Options: • Link to other wiki page • Link to new wiki page • Link to folder • Link to Web address • Link to Email Address Linking

  12. Click WIKI • Click “Edit” • Use the “WYSIWYG” editor – as easy as using word. • Type away! • Click SAVE! Editing a PAGE

Bold, underline, Italic, Strikethrough • Subscript an Superscript • Bullets and Numbering • Increasing and Decreasing Indent • Alignment: left, center, right • Undo, Copy & Paste • Text and Background color • Headers, Font, Size • Spelling check, Horizontal Line • Erase formatting / Show Source (coding) • Add link • Normal view and Full screen The Toolbar

  15. Creating a folder: Creating a new page: • Front Page • “Page and Files” • “New” • New page or new file • Go to front page • Click “Create a Page” • Give your page a name • Put your page in a folder TIP: Folders are great to separate students or courses! Creating a new page/ folder

  16. If you want your students to use the same format. • E.g. lesson plans, creating a game, writing a paragraph, doing a project • You can create a page and by adding the tag “template,” you create a template that you can copy. Add a template

  17. When you create a new page, you can now click on a template you designed TIP Templates are great for beginning wiki users and young children – they should only know to click edit, type, and save. Just like a worksheet but online! Templates
