CHIPRIGHT • Company Background • Brief overview of what we do • The R&D item • Experience with Innovation vouchers
CHIPRIGHT Chipright Irish Customers Micro-Chip Engineering Services R&D Enterprise Ireland GMIT European Customers
CHIPRIGHT Chipright Focus on Verifying Digital Circuits Most Cost Effective point in Development Flow Verification Services (Chipright)
CHIPRIGHT • Research Question: • Research new verification process for micro-chip development • Challenge for an indigenous company • Kick started research via Innovation voucher • Pre-cursor to our longer term view R&D Activity – Innovation partnership • Opportunity to evaluate “working relationship” with GMIT • Links to Engineering Department • Viewpoint of what is achievable when working with them • Viewpoint of their courses, strong skills to identify in graduates • Opportunity to build connections & relationships with GMIT
CHIPRIGHT • How did it work out? • Identify a research partner and “agree up front on a goal” for the research • We had to “ramp-up” the researcher and inject ideas into the process • Streamlined it to “narrow” what we wanted solved • Researcher worked on the process • Continuous email / communication • Gave us a degree of control over it • Report generated
CHIPRIGHT • Identified a good level of software knowledge within Engineering Dept. • Software like JAVA • Can be used to develop graphical user interfaces • Identified this as something to leverage after the core research was implemented • Different topic entirely to what we looked at originally • So used the Innovation voucher a 2nd time
