  3. What is Rolling Mill? Most metal rolling process are similar in that, the work material is plastically deformed by compressive power between two continually spining rolls. These forces act to reduce the thickness of the metal and influence its grain structure. The decrease in thickness can be estimated by the distinction in thickness before and after the reduction, this value is known as the draft. In addition to reducing the thickness of the work, the rolls additionally act to feed the material as they roll in contrary direction to each other. Friction is therefore an essential part of the rolling operation, but an excessive friction can be adverse for many reasons.
