Overview of FACE Responsibilities • Gatekeeper for district-wide engagement • NCLB “Parental Engagement” compliance • Parent and Family Resource Center • District Parent Advisory Council (PAC) • Parent workshops and conferences • Homeless Family supports and tracking • Parent and Community meetings • Community partnerships • Technical assistance to schools and central administration departments • Annual district wide Parent Conference • Parent Zones – parent trainings and monitoring PZ activities • Rosetta Stone program for students and parents • Ombudsman services – Facilitate parent concerns
School Supports • School visits: • Principals – technical supports to school staff • PAC member(s) – training and direct supports • Assist at school based parent activities • Participate in school improvement meeting groups (SIT, Parent Engagement, School Parent Advisory Council/Committee, PTO, PTA, PTSO) • Deliver and coordinate informational workshops for parents • Facilitate questions and concerns from Principals, school staff and parents • Translation support • Facilitate meetings/trainings • Visit and monitor Parent Zone development and activities • Collaborate with school based community partners/programs

Fully Functioning Parent Zones • Point of contact – Principal or designee • Clear purpose and supports • Furnished space w/furniture, working computer/printer and various resources for parents • Volunteer recruitment and training process to staff PZ • Communication strategy – (notification to school community) hours of operation and schedule of activities • FACE will create a monitoring tool to measure PZ effectiveness • (FACE parent specialist will be point of contact at the district level)
FACE Goals 2012-2013 • Fully Functioning Parent Zones at 50% of schools, if not all. • Consistently monitor the implementation of SIP for each school by: • Supporting schools and offering a menu of options to help spend Title I funds effectively and meaningfully helping expand PE and outreach efforts • Work to identify a School community greeter for morning and dismissal time at 50% of schools, if not all • Work with each school to form an active, consistent and responsive parent engagement subcommittee of the School Improvement Team • Expand and strengthen outreach efforts using grassroots community organizing strategies
