  3. 2. Warranty Coverage 2. Warranty Coverage Kumho Tires are warranted against defects in materials or workmanshipin normal use on the vehicle for the life of the original usable tread. The life of original usable tread shall be ended when the 1.6mm (2/32ndsof an inch) of tread remain. ◈ Non adjustable condition - Road hazards such as punctures, cuts, scuffs or impact breaks. - Improper inflation, overloading, improper mounting or demounting. - Run flat, irregular wear due to misalignment. - Tire worn beyond treadwear indicator. - Ride disturbance caused by misalignment, damaged wheel or wheel imbalance.

  4. 3. KUMHO Compensation Policy 3. KUMHO Compensation Policy A. Free Replacement If a KUMHO tire fails as a result of workmanship or material defect during the first 25% wear rate compared to original tread depth for passenger radial tire, and the first 10% wear rate compared to original tread depth for the other tires, free replacement will be applied.

  5. 3. KUMHO Compensation Policy B. Pro-rated Replacement If a KUMHO tire fails as a result of workmanship or material defect over 25% wear rate compared to the original usable tread depth for passenger radial tire and the first 10% wear rate compared to original tread depth for the other tires, pro-rated replacement will be applied. Namely, the claim adjustment will be done in proportion of the remaining usable tread depth.(R.T.D.-T.W.I.) Compensation amount = P x x (1 + rate of tax & expenses) (O.T.D.-T.W.I.)

  6. 3. KUMHO Compensation Policy C. Ride Complaint IfKUMHO tire fails due to the out of balance tire, the out of round tire within 10% wear rate of the original casing life, free replacement will be applied. Whereas, KUMHO can not guarantee the claim tire which is the out of balance tire, the out of round tire over 10% wear rate of the original casing life.

  19. Cord Break Up (CBU) ※ Probable Causes - A puddle or hole on the road

  20. Cord Break Up (CBU) ※ Appearance of damage 1. In a short time, we can find a bulge in the part which got impact 2. Also, most of cases, we can find the mark of cord breakage in the inside of the part

  21. Cord Break Up (CBU) Probable Causes - The breakage of the body ply cords due to impact from the outside.(sidewalk / puddle / hole etc.) Preventions - Maintain proper air pressure - Avoid high-speed driving. - When a vehicle pass the obstacles, reduce the speed.

  22. PC & LT Tires- Spread/Missed Cord (Bulge) Radial, pencil shaped bulge on the sidewall of a radial tire Appearance Photos Cord Cord Missing

  23. Spread/Missed Cord (Bulge) Probable Causes • Wider than normal carcass wire spacing. • Improper joint splicing during manufacturing process Preventions - Consult with Kumho Eng’r

  24. Spread/Missed Cord (Bulge) ◈ The difference of Bulge and Cord Break-up

  25. PC & LT Tires- Flat Spot Localized flat aspect on the tire tread area which was contacted on the ground Appearance Photos

  26. Flat Spot Probable Causes - Shipping or storaging condition for a long time. - Aggravated by low inflation pressure. - Park the vehicle for a long time without changing the position. Preventions - Avoid to park the vehicle for a long time. - Maintain high pressure for storage the vehicles. - Change the contacted position regularly.

  27. PC & LT Tires - Belt Separation A bulge or split through the upper shoulder & tread area Appearance Photos

  28. Belt Separation Probable Causes - Loose or separated steel wires due to low air pressure and/or high speed driving. - Adhesion loss within the tire at the edge of the belt. - May be associated with a penetration or other damage. Preventions - Maintain proper inflation pressure. - Avoid overloading and overspeed driving. - Consult with Kumho engineer.

  29. PC & LT Tires- Tread&Shoulder Separation(Bias) A bulge or split through the tread and shoulder area of a bias tire Appearance Photos

  30. Tread & Shoulder Separation(Bias Tire) Probable Causes - It is mainly due to underinflation. - The cause is overheating of the tire due to underinflation, which weakens the adhesive between the cord and the rubber layer. Preventions - Maintain proper air pressure and avoid overloading. - Avoid overspeed driving and sharp cornering.

  31. PC & LT Tires- Ply Turn-up Separation Circum cracks above the rim line area with cord exposed Appearance Photos

  32. Ply Turn-up Separation Probable Causes - Improper bead seating, improper rim size, overloaded or underinflated condition or possible manufacturing condition. Preventions - Ensure proper rim size - Maintain proper air pressure and avoid overloading.
