LO – Analyse the results of monohybrid inheritance to predict offspring phenotypes • Tall = Tt or TT • Short = tt • Which allele is DOMINANT? • Which allele is RECESSIVE? • Draw a Punnett square for a homozygous dominant plant crosses with a homozygous recessive one
You should get this What are the offspring’s Phenotype? Cross two of the offspring, draw a Punnett square for this What are the new phenotypes? What ratio’s off genotypes are there? What is different about the two offspring generations you have made so far?
Another way of showing this is using a pedigree • Not the first two... • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFPDaQrPjus&feature=related • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhyqFni2poU • A pedigree shows the family tree but of the alleles available! • Lets look at the ones we have done today as an example
Parent Genotypes This diagram shows a pedigree for the plants we have drawn Punnett squares for! P generation Gametes This looks complicated but draw it out (better than mine) and fill it out! Offspring Genotypes F1 generation Offspring Gametes Offspring Genotypes F2 generation
