Organ Size • Recipient/donor weight ratio of less than a 7.5 ratio in kidneys has not shown to impact function • Testing lung capacity in lung transplant patients has shown to be an accurate determination of size Overall organ size is hard to determine. Each organ uses different techniques when determining size Ashley Seal

Other Factors: Assuming there is a match • Location: Closer to the donor organ, the better • Time: The longer a prospective recipient has been on the waiting list increases the chance that he or she will receive an organ • Condition of the recipient: The surgeon of the patient will make the over all decision of whether to accept the donor organ or not based on the current health of the patient while also considering patient history Ashley Seal
