Part 1Introduction to Section 504 WriterHouston ISD Office of Special Education Programs
Usernames and Passwords • As an evaluation specialist, LSSP and SLP your current user name and logon will be used to access Section 504 Writer.
Usernames and Passwords • Enter Information on Campus 504 Chairperson • Go to Share Point and enter information by clicking on Section 504 Training Tracker • The link is found on the toolbar under Sites. Scroll down to SharePoint. The Training Tracker is located at the bottom of the blue launch bar
Benefits of Section 504 Writer • Section 504 chairperson will not have to search for a 504 folder. Most records will be electronically archived in the EasyIEP system (with the exception of the 504 Evaluation Report). A physical folder will be kept on the campus. • Section 504 chairperson will not have to update Chancery.
Benefits of Section 504 Writer • A receiving campus will not have to wait for Section 504 folders to identify Section 504 students • The system is accessible from home
Customized Campus Support and Training • The evaluation specialist is the campus contact person for Section 504 Writer questions. • Evaluation specialists will provide training to the campus 504 chairperson(s), and record the training session on SharePoint – 504 Training Tracker. • Demonstrate 504 Training Tracker on SharePoint

Chancery • Student data from Chancery populates EasyIEP • Log into Chancery. • Click on the Special Services tab and then open the “Referal” tab. • Indicate the referral date and referral type. This information serves as “triggers” to pass data to EasyIEP every night. • Example: If a student is referred on Monday, the data will appear on Tuesday. • Referral data should be entered by the IAT chairperson. • The IAT determines the path of referral either Special Education or Section 504. This information is entered into Chancery.
Steps to Populate Section 504 Writer • Log into Chancery • Enter the student’s ID number • Click on Special Services • Click on Referrals • Click on “Actions” at the top of the screen. • Click “Add Referral Information” • Use the drop down menu toselect the “Referral Type” – Section 504 or Special Ed. • Enter the “Mtg Date” • Indicate the :Comm Chairperson” • Use the drop down menu to select the “Disposition” – Refer for Assessment • Indicate the “Parent Notified Date 1” • Indicate “Parent Consent Date” • Click “Apply” • Click “OK”

Part 2: FIE Writer Updates
FIE Writer Updates • Reason for Referral – choose name from drop down • Sociological – all sections of Previous Evaluations will be required • Out-of-District/Conclusions – NCEC documentation • NCEC – only offered in primary drop down • NCEC – is the primary disability • ID/AU/ED/LD can only be selected as secondary disabilities • Cannot select a disability twice
FIE Writer Updates • Achievement Tables • If one cell has a value in a row, all cells must have values in that row
FIE Writer Updates • Conclusions - LD doc • Radio buttons – can only select “G” or one narrow on intact – only select “NA” if you need to correct an error • Radio buttons – can only select “G” or one narrow on weakness - only select “NA” if you need to correct an error • Cognitive • Hyperlink with information on how to write up an adaptive assessment
FIE Writer Updates • Conclusion – ID Doc of Disability • All three questions need to be “Yes” in order to indicate that the student qualifies as Intellectually Disabled
