Most adjuncts are paid for 47 contact hours when they teach a three-credit hour course…. • If you are paid $47.12 per contact hour (the Ph.D. at Step Four rate), you would earn $2,214.64 for teaching the class • If you taught three courses, the total for the semester would be $6,643.92 • If this was spread over four paychecks, the gross per paycheck would be $1,660.98 • If you are paid $35.00 per contact hour (the M.A. at Step One rate), you would earn $1,645.00 for teaching the class • If you taught three courses, the total for the semester would be $4,935.00 • If this was spread over four paychecks, the gross per paycheck would be $1,233.75

If you are paid 47 contact hours per three-credit hour course and you teach three classes, you will be paid for 141 contact hours over the course of the semester 47 contact hours times 3 classes = 141 • If you are paid four times per semester, you should be paid for 35.25 contact hours per semester 141 divided by 4 = 35.25 (for three classes) 47 divided by 4 = 11.75 (for one class) • This holds true regardless of step and lane
