  2. GEOGRAPHY The Island of Jamaica is located: • At 18o15’N (latitude) and 77o30’W (longitude) • In the north-western region of the Caribbean Sea known as the Greater Antilles. • 145km south of Cuba and 160km west of Haiti

DEMOGRAPHICS & OTHER INFORMATION ON JAMAICA • Population of approx. 2.65 million persons • Over 0.7 million live in Kingston (capital city) • Independent commonwealth nation • System of Government is based on parliamentary democracy model • 90% of population are of African extract • Languages spoken: English and patois • Primary industries are tourism, bauxite mining and agriculture • World renown for our beaches, waterfalls, reggae music, Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey, premium coffee and having a bobsled team

  4. THE JAMAICAN SECURITIES INDUSTRY • Vibrant equities trading • 11 Stockbrokers, 42 listed companies • Market Capitalization of U$14.3 million at May 2005 • Large market in fixed income securities, esp. Government securities • Both markets are the largest in the Caribbean

THE JAMAICA STOCK EXCHANGE • Established in 1968, trading began in 1969 • Licensed under the Securities Act and supervised by the Financial Services Commission • Committed to providing a fair, transparent and efficient capital market • Self-regulatory organization for broker-members who are also owners • Only such exchange in the island and the first and largest in the Caribbean • Parent company of the Jamaica Central Securities Depository (JCSD)

THE JAMAICA CENTRAL SECURITIES DEPOSITORY • Established and began operations in 1998 • Registered under the Securities Act 1993 • Wholly owned subsidiary of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) • System for custody & settlement of securities in an immobilized environment • Only such depository in the island, largest in Caribbean • Moved into separate facilities in January 2006 • Immobilization of Fixed Income securities by December 2006

  7. FACTS, FEATURES & SERVICES • Holdings represent approximately 90% of available equity stock in circulation • Over 82,000 account holders • Indemnity insurance coverage of approx. U$1 million • T+3 settlement cycle • Zero loss experiences to date • Also offer Registrar services to listed companies • Statements available on-line
